Community Groups...rise up

identify

As an member of a community or civic group you interact with many different young people each day. Here are a few ideas to consider when identifying youth you might impact:

  • youth that participate in community engaged civic activities such as 4-H, Girl/Boy Scouts
  • youth that volunteer in the community through school or other organizations

commit

After you identify the youth you interact with regularly, make a commitment to invest your time with them. Here are some examples on how to make that investment:

  • attend local youth events (sports, theatre, musical, academic competitions)
  • contribute to fundraisers when possible or if unable to commit financially, ask them what they are raising money for, compliment their initiative or commitment etc.

engage

Grow your relationship and develop a connection with identified youth. Intentionally have conversations with them about issues that impact their life. Here are some ideas to spark these conversations:

  • ask them about their day
  • offer to partner with them to promote their projects
